SBS is the largest yield of SBCs (accounting for more than 70%), the lowest cost, a wide range of applications, based on styrene, butadiene as a monomer triblock copolymer, both plastic and rubber characteristics, known as the "third generation of synthetic rubber." Similar to styrene butadiene rubber, SBS can be in contact with water, weak acid, alkali, etc., with excellent tensile strength, large surface friction coefficient, good low temperature performance, excellent electrical properties, good processing properties and other characteristics, becoming the largest consumption of thermoplastic elastomer.

Product Superiority

SBS has incomparable advantages over thermosetting rubber in processing applications:
(1) Thermoplastic processing equipment can be used for processing molding, such as extrusion, injection, blow molding, etc., the molding speed is faster than the traditional vulcanized rubber process;
(2) No vulcanization is required, which can save the vulcanization process in the general thermosetting rubber processing process, so the equipment investment is less, the production energy consumption is low, the process is simple, the processing cycle is short, the production efficiency is high, the processing cost is low;

The application of SBS in asphalt modification includes two aspects: asphalt modification of waterproof coil and road asphalt modification. The asphalt waterproof sheet modified with SBS has the characteristics of good low temperature flexibility, good self-healing ability and durability, high temperature flow resistance, aging resistance, good thermal stability and impact resistance, which can greatly improve the performance of waterproof sheet, extend its service life, and meet the needs of important buildings and structures. It has been widely used in municipal engineering including bridge deck (concrete), subway and underpass, as well as water conservancy engineering including pools and canals.
