C9 petroleum resin is a thermoplastic resin which is polymerized with aldehydes, aromatics and terpenes in the presence of catalyst or by co-polymerizing C9 fractions of by-product of cracking ethylene plant as main raw material. Due to its low softening point and relatively small molecular weight, it is generally not used as a material alone. Because the structure of C9 petroleum resin does not contain polar groups, it has good water resistance, acid and alkali resistance, weather resistance and light aging resistance, good solubility in organic solvents, good compatibility with other resins, but also has brittleness, stickiness, cohesiveness and plasticity, mainly used in coatings, rubber additives, paper additives, inks and adhesives and other fields. The market demand is great.
(1) Coating Industry: In the coating industry, petroleum resins can be combined with other resins to replace high-priced resins in whole or in part, so as to reduce costs and improve the luster, hardness, water resistance, stability and chemical resistance of products.
